Background
Cost of Success started as a documentary focused on the Emerson College Equipment Distribution Center (EDC). We aimed to share their questionable rules and fees tacked onto students. However, as we got closer to the answers, we realized there was a bigger story on our hands. Some students struggle with the EDC's unfair policies, but most students are unhappy with the overall tuition plan at Emerson College.

With Boston being a college-heavy city, the issue of tuition is not exclusive to Emerson College. The high cost of debt challenges ambitious Boston students who already have to deal with the high-stress of their social and academic lives.

In recent years, the issue of tuition hikes has been a contentious topic in the Boston area, with many universities and colleges increasing their fees in response to financial pressures. Boston is home to several prestigious universities, including Harvard, MIT, Boston University, and Northeastern, which attract thousands of students from across the globe each year. However, the high cost of tuition is becoming a major concern for many students and families, particularly as the cost of living in Boston is also relatively high. While universities argue that tuition hikes are necessary to maintain high standards of education and attract the best faculty, many students and advocacy groups are calling for more affordable education options and greater transparency in the tuition-setting process. As tuition hikes continue to impact students and their families in the Boston area, it remains a contentious issue that requires careful consideration and evaluation from all stakeholders involved.

With the cost of attending college continuing to rise across the country, the impact of tuition hikes on students' financial stability has become a major concern. As a result, the administration of Emerson College has been under scrutiny for its tuition policies and the financial burden placed on students. In this context, it is important to explore the factors that contribute to tuition hikes, the potential consequences for students, and possible solutions to address the issue of rising college costs.
